You will serve as a Planner and Estimator (Sheet Metal Mechanic) in the Norfolk Production Branch of FRC SE DET MIDLANT OCEANA.
Duties
You will evaluate work requests to determine requirements and cost estimates for planner and estimator functions
You will convey technical guidance and direction related to sheet metal repair and maintenance of aircraft structures and surfaces
You will disassemble aircraft sheet metal components to identify functional issues.
You will assemble sheet metal work using rivets, screws, joints, bolts, and fasteners for aircraft materials to comply with strength requirements and critical tolerance levels
You will coordinate proposed plans for compatibility with routine sheet metal shop assignments.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision such as 1) Resolve problems which involves the analysis of aircraft or aeronautical equipment against established planning requirements; 2) Lay out and plan work for shops and working groups so that schedules may allow for late delivery / completion or additional work found in process; 3) Gather and interpret information regarding the control of production and make recommendations for aircraft after material examination and for incorporation of technical directives during aircraft rework. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. 4) Estimating labor and cost for accomplishment repairs for crash damage aircraft. 5) Preparing detailed and comprehensive reports of aircraft condition upon completion of examination.
