Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in providing real-time tactical and operational information in support of ground, sea, and air operations. This position starts at a salary of $82,830.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $107,680.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $107,680.00 (GS-12 Step 10). In this Supervisory Sector Enforcement Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals. Typical work assignments include: Identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization and adjusting priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; Evaluating and tracking the progress and quality of work performed by subordinates, and giving advice, counsel, and/or instruction on both work and administrative matters; Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) in the use of such automated enforcement information systems as TECS, National Crime Information Center (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (NLETS), various Immigration law enforcement systems, and state law enforcement systems; and Developing new or substantially modified work processes, procedures, criteria for software and hardware enhancements which strongly influence or change the way in which participating federal, state, and local user agencies utilize CBP's HF and VHF Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing training related to the operation of integrated communication systems that utilizes radios, telephones, teletype, email, facsimile equipment, and other technological communication devices. Navigating and accessing law enforcement databases using state-of-the art interface methods and then analyzing the data and evaluating its usefulness in resolving complex and interrelated law enforcement issues. Recommending technical and procedural improvements designed to enhance law enforcement information system operations and performance. Providing real-time tactical and operational information in support of ground, sea, and air operations NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/08/2023. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
