This position is located within Grand Teton National Park, within the Division of Facility Management.
Duties
Operate gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment.
In addition to operating engineering and construction heavy equipment, the incumbent may also operate several other types of motor driven machinery.
Operate motor vehicles requiring a Class A CDL with appropriate endorsement.
Inspect, service and maintain (or recommend maintenance by contract) all assigned heavy equipment.
Use equipment to excavate, backfill, grade or level earth including roads, in mountainous and steep terrain with steep slopes, graded curves, shoulders, and other rough terrain.
Operate rotary snow plow to clear park roadways and parking areas including steep, narrow mountainous roads adjacent to steep drop-offs. Use engineering equipment to rip and remove overflow ice.
Use truck and trailer combination to haul equipment and/or other materials to work sites.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required. Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Driver's License: must submit (in State sealed envelope directly from the State authorities), at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- Must have a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) at the time of application. Must obtain air brake and tanker endorsement within 6 months of entering on duty.
- Drug Testing: You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
