Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately mid-May through the end of April the following year, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year (early May).

Duties
Operates trucks and specialized snow removal equipment in excess of 50,000lb GVW with multiple levers for multiple plow and attachments to clear snow from highways, secondary roads, parking lots and driveways in harsh winter conditions with continuous snowfall.
Operates gas or diesel powered engineering equipment with wheel or crawler type tracks such as road graders, backhoes, drum rollers, front-end loaders, wheel loaders, telehandlers and large industrial/agricultural tractors to dig, excavate, load, pile and push ground material and snow in difficult terrain.
Loads, secures and hauls equipment from project sites using truck and trailer.
Perform routine roads and grounds related tasks such as installing and removing snow poles seasonally, highway litter pick up, highway sign maintenance, routine painting to include roads striping, traffic control for construction, and building fences or other barriers.
Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort is required in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often puts forth similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment and tools.
Work Environment: Works both inside and outside with the majority of work being performed outside. When working outside, worker is frequently exposed to inclement weather. Incumbent works in rain, mud, snow, and in hot/cold temperatures. The operator is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, fumes, oils, solvents and cold and dampness. Worker is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while servicing and operating equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as protective hearing devices and hard hats.

Experience requirements include: operating multiple types of engineering equipment on flat or rolling terrain, in refuse dumps, construction sites, or other similar areas to perform work such as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, snow, or similar materials, and to maintain roads, ditches, and/or road shoulders and beds: road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loaders, trench diggers, dump trucks, large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments, rotary plows, crawlers, or equipment with mower and sweeper or sanding attachments. In addition, used a truck and trailer to load, secure, and haul equipment or materials to and from project sites. Must possess a current valid Class A CDL.

Education
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
