The incumbents are located at the St. Louis, MO, John Cochran VA Medical Center, in Building 1, Grand Blvd entrance or the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in Building 55, 1 and 54 at the Jefferson Barracks Division. This position is in Health Administration Service (HAS) within the medical center and reports to the Specialty Clinic Supervisor. The incumbent provides information, meets, greets, directs and resolves questions of Veterans and visitors to the VASTLHCS.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/12/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade anytime in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. However, candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: General Experience: You must have one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two years of education above high school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of general experience and two years of education beyond high school. Note: If you are basing your qualifications on education (or a combination of education and experience) you must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: CommunicationComputer SkillsCustomer ServiceOrganizational Awareness Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The position requires the incumbent to sit, stand, and walk at periods throughout the tour of duty. May stand or walk for extended periods of time. Will stoop, bend and life 10-15 pounds. The incumbent may push empty wheelchairs to staging area in front lobby. Utilizes multi-lined phone, paging system and personal computer as part of everyday activities.
