The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a security assistant assigned to the co-located Visitor Control Center (VCC) by reviewing various personnel related documentation for issuance of Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) passes, Security Forces Management Information System (SFMIS) passes and Automated Entry Control Cards (AECC) for -

Duties

(Continued from Summary): guests, visitors and distinguished visitors. Perform base access validation & vetting procedures against all requests to include Entry Authorization Listings (EALs) for squadron to base level functions and the processing of foreign government personnel for official visits in conjunction with Foreign Disclosure Office (FDO). Duties: Reviews personal documentation in the performance of producing temporary visitor, guest and vehicle passes to eligible personnel seeking unescorted or escorted base access. Processes personnel criminal background checks IAW federal, DoD and state regulations for escorted and unescorted base access requests. Manages temporary AECC program by properly validating need for access, ensures all visitor requests have been approved by the designated security manager, and maintains an electronic record of all issued badges. Provides general customer service and routine, associated clerical tasks for mission accomplishment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0086. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience. Examples of general experience include progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR EDUCATION: Must have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Basic knowledge of personnel background checks and investigation processes. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions Basic knowledge of government and state laws and instructions as they pertain to state law enforcement telecommunications systems, state driving, and housing regulations. Basic knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Ability to plan, organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects in an efficient manner. Ability to research, analyze, verify, and correlate data to compose information for routine and non-routine reports, inquires and technical correspondence. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position. The certification memo must originate from the member's military service branch on official letterhead and contain the following:
