About the Position: The management assistant, performs a wide variety of essential management and administrative support functions. Utilizes a practical understanding of mission requirements and priorities, policies, organization structure, functions, procedures, processes, and principles of management. Interprets these areas for applicability to the branch and furnishes guidance as necessary.

Duties
Coordinates clerical and administrative reporting requirements. Prepares reports utilizing a computer terminal and various software programs to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and saves documents.
Establishes controls and suspense dates and follows up on suspense actions to ensure required action and responses are made within deadlines.
Serves as training coordinator. Coordinates annual/intermittent training surveys and maintains training budget.
Provides technical assistance to employees and supervisors regarding development matters and sources of needed training.
Prepares and enters training information into financial system and notifies supervisor and employees on status of training requests.
Establishes and maintains database or spreadsheet records of programs.
Maintains Government Training VISA Card for the branch. Assures credit card purchases are in accordance with regulatory and procedural guidelines.
Assists in monitoring the operating budget. Assists in pulling reports for training, awards, and miscellaneous reports.
Serves as back-up timekeeper.

GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Preparing reports utilizing a computer terminal and various software programs to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print, and saves documents; pulling reports for training, awards, and miscellaneous reports.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Coordinating clerical and administrative reporting requirements for the office; preparing reports utilizing a computer terminal and various software programs to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and save documents; assuring outgoing material is in compliance with current directives; reading, reviewing, and/or preparing outgoing correspondence and reports, verifying the accuracy of punctuation, format, enclosures/attachments; utilizing an automated financial system to track financial obligations; procuring goods, supplies, and services for the office; making travel arrangements and providing travel services; and performing timekeeping and related duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05 level required for GS-06; GS-06 level required for GS-07).
