This position is assigned to the Nursing Service at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Coatesville, Pennsylvania. The purpose of this position is to provide primary timekeeping duties and a variety of clerical duties in support of overall administrative functions.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs timekeeping and related duties using automated reporting system (VATAS) and AcuStaf labor management software suite, ensuring time is posted daily and accurately.
Post timesheets for employees assigned to their Time and Leave (T&L) Units: Views employee and timesheet profiles, timesheet summary data, temporary and permanent work schedules, timesheet validations: timesheet corrections, timesheet notifications, leave requests, and premium pay requests.
Submit proxy leave requests approved by supervisor (for employees that are unavailable to enter leave).
Submit Help Desk tickets to have FMLA approvals entered in VATAS, transfer timecards to/from appropriate T&Ls.
Process corrected timecards for any late leave/OT/CTE requests and after FMLA/COP/VLTP approvals are received.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the organization's Nursing Service operations.
Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of programs/project studies, to include VATAS and AcuStaf labor management software suite.
Type letters, reports memoranda, rosters, mailing lists, and other general office material.
Uses MS Word or comparable word processing software to execute several office automations functions.
Uses MS Excel or other comparable spreadsheet software to develop and change spreadsheets to graphically display data.
Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences.
Screens all calls and visitors, answering most questions and completing most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring to the supervisor.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: understanding or standardized rules and regulations relating to entitlement and use of various categories of time and leave; utilizing administrative and clerical policies and procedures to create, format, and proofread documents; reproducing and distributing materials, and maintaining files; using computer equipment and a variety of software applications; and communicating with a wide variety of employees and supervisors. A qualified typist is preferred. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED. OR,

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or driving an automobile, etc. No specific physical demands are required to perform the work.
