You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS) in the PUBLIC WORKS Department of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. GS-11 SALARY: $69,107 - $89,835 GS-12 SALARY: $82,830 - $107,680

Duties

You will prepare engineering studies and analyses to determine Industrial Control Systems (ICS) monitoring and control requirements. You will review and provide recommendations regarding architect and engineering firm submittals, drawings, diagrams, layouts, blueprints, specifications, and sketches. You will perform final evaluation and commissioning of networked ICS. You will monitor operations and determine maintenance requirements of ICS applications.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing engineering and operations/maintenance support for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) to ensure plants, equipment, and facilities are operated efficiently; 2) Monitoring work for compliance with construction, architecture, and engineering contract requirements; 3) Reviewing engineering designs for conformance and accuracy; 4) Conducting studies and analyses to determine the necessary Building Control Systems (BCS) or Utility Control Systems (UCS); and 5) Determining the need for repairs and upgrades to ICS. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by your resume GS-11: If you are an outside applicant (i.e. you do not have current or prior federal competitive or excepted service), your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Working with others to provide engineering and operations/maintenance support for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) to ensure plants, equipment, and facilities are operated efficiently; 2) Reviewing engineering designs for conformance and accuracy; 3) Conducting analyses to determine the necessary Building Control Systems (BCS) or Utility Control Systems (UCS); and 4) Reviewing ICS to propose the need for repairs or upgrades. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by your resume. If you are an applicant with current or prior federal competitive or excepted service, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Working with others to provide engineering and operations/maintenance support for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) to ensure plants, equipment, and facilities are operated efficiently; 2) Reviewing engineering designs for conformance and accuracy; 3) Interpreting guidelines, such as technical manuals, specifications, blueprints and schematics to resolve unique situations; and 4) Utilizing automated software, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, and/or database applications.
