You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND ACQUISITION DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
GS-10: $62,898 - $81,771
GS-11: $69,107 - $89,835
Duties
You will monitor construction to assure compliance with contracts provisions and standards.
You will develop project planning timetables or schedules to ensure project stays within budget and meets project goals.
You will present new instructional designs or methods to show adaptation of standard engineering practices and techniques.
You will discuss assignments with others to accomplish work-related activities.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Engineering and
Technical Management, Foundational. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to the full range of engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural and environmental) required for the design, layout, execution processes of construction operations in order to provide input on construction projects; 2) Ensuring compliance of quality control plans for construction projects; 3) Making recommendations to resolve problems encountered during construction operations; and 4) Interpreting construction guidance specifications for the purpose of monitoring contract compliance. To qualify for the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Evaluating Quality Control efforts of construction contractor(s); 2) Coordinating construction quality management program for assigned projects; 3) Enforcing the management of contractor's safety program to assure adherence to contract requirements; and 4) Assisting in the resolution of field issues, problems and conflicts.
