This position is located at DFMWR, Community Recreation Division - Center Library. This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. Duties

Creates engaging displays, brochures, and other materials to promote library services, resources, or programs. Assists in collection development through selection and deselection of materials. Develops, conducts, and evaluates engaging and dynamic age-appropriate programs for youth on a variety of topics including literacy, science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Performs a wide variety of public service duties: circulation, reference/reader’s advisory, database searching, marketing, interlibrary loans, reserves. Performs and/or a wide variety of systems application and maintenance which may include standard office software, basic Integrated Library System and PC management.

• Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: One year of work experience that equipped the applicant with practical knowledge of library or related information services, tools and methods and procedures. Experience must have been gained at the next lower level. Best Qualified Criteria: 1. Experience working with children and youth developing and presenting programs and events such as storytimes, summer reading, STEM/STEAM, and crafts. AND 2.Experience providing reference service to children/youth, parents, and/or caregivers using various searching techniques with the library catalog (OPAC) and library databases to suggest age-appropriate information sources, recreational reading, or other print and digital materials. AND 3. Experience working in a public/community library using a library classification system and an Integrated Library System (ILS) such as Sierra, Sirsi, Insignia which demonstrates the ability to search or retrieve and re-shelve library materials. AND 4. Experience with Department of Army/Department of Defense (DA/DoD) MWR library databases such as Overdrive, Tutor.com, Mango Languages, Great Courses, Universal Class, Ebsco Learning Express, various Do It Yourself sources or equal programs and/or databases. **Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and best qualifying criteria will be referred to the selecting official first. ****In order to be considered Best Qualified, your resume must show that you meet BOTH the minimum qualifications, and ALL of the Best Qualified criteria.
