This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Protective Service (FPS).
The primary purpose of this position this position is to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from terrorism, criminal acts, and other hazards threatening the U.S. Government.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator, GS-1811-14, your typical work assignments may include:
Performing administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
Evaluating and analyzing statistics and case workflow to overall staffing needs and to forecast future program needs.
Advising and counseling workers related to work and administrative matters.
Conducting major criminal investigations resulting from gathered intelligence data.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Assigning, directing, and supervising the work of criminal investigators who are responsible for carrying out and coordinating criminal investigative activities.
Leading criminal intelligence collection, intelligence analysis, and ensuing criminal investigations.
Executing planning and coordination with other federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
Medical Examination: The person selected for this position must be determined physically fit by an authorized government physician to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties. This position may be subject to periodic
incumbent examinations in the future.
Background Security Investigation: The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Senstitive Compartmented Information, (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.
Training Requirement: Incumbent must successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Criminal Investigator Training Program, or its equivalent.
Motor Vehicle Operation: Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Motor vehicles must be driven and managed in accordance with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and Federal Protective Services (FPS) policies and guidance.
Lautenberg Amendment: This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Fun Control
Act of 1968. Person convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
Age Requirement: There is a maximum entry age of the day before your 37th birthday (except for veterans preference eligible) for entry into law enforcement officer positions. Applicants who have previously been employed in a Federal law enforcement officer position covered by 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) are not restricted from applying.
Primary/Rigorous Requirement: Experience in primary/rigorous law enforcement position(s)
is a mandatory prerequisite (5 CFR 831.902 & 5 CFR 842.802).
Education
Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
