THIS IS A ND NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. Military membership is NOT required. This ND National Guard position is for aMILITARY & FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5701400 and is part of the ND G1, National Guard.

Duties

As a Military and Family Readiness Specialist, you will provide support in the administration of Military & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) services for the Army National Guard within the State Family Program. This is achieved by performing assignments designed to provide familiarity with the Family Program, community services, effective relations with supporting social service and emergency organizations, recruit and train volunteers, promote resilience and financial literacy through targeted life skills training, and the development of human resources program referral networks. Serve as fully independent advisor within geographical area of responsibility in accomplishing all objectives of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) for the Army National Guard to maximize retention and readiness. Provide input to develop, articulate, and implement the Family Readiness Program at the State level, inclusive of family readiness, family assistance, employment outreach, volunteer training and management and improvement of quality of life and well-being of Service members and families. Manages and operates family assistance center and provide assistance to commands within geographical area of responsibility in support of the SFRP. Provides information resource referral and non-medical administrative case management across all essential services. Submit information to support development and budget forecasting to support the Soldier and Family Readiness Support Program to higher headquarters. Conducts staff assistance visits to units in the geographical area of responsibility to accomplish the objectives of the program.

Requirements

  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration, will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position, your resume must reflect sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must meet one of the following: A. Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-07, in the Federal service in the normal line of progression for the occupation, MILITARY & FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to: collecting, organizing, and submitting data and information; implementing and maintaining computer entry systems to support reporting, retrieval, and dissemination of data; developing and maintaining a directory of resources, agencies, and organizations that are available to assist supported individuals and/or groups; planning and providing information resource referrals across all essential services; maintaining a library of resource materials for use by staff and volunteers; conducting informal and formal training and recruiting of volunteers; and conducting briefings to provide necessary information to leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-07 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service. OR B. EDUCATION: Applicants may also qualify on the basis of education as follows: To qualify based on education for the GS-09 level, you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts.) OR C. Combination of Education and Specialized Experience: You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position by combining your specialized experience and appropriate graduate level education according to the following formula: (a) your total months of full-time specialized experience as a percentage of a 12-month total; PLUS (b) your total number of qualifying graduate semester or quarter hours as a percentage of one year of graduate study. The total of the two percentages must equal at least 100 percent. (Note: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts.) You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Refer to "How you will be Evaluated" section of this announcement. Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Education

If you are using education to qualify for this position, you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LLB. or J.D., if related. (education must be in a related field.)
