This position is located in Region 4 and will serve in a leadership and staffing role focusing on the regional implementation of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program under the Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA).

To qualify for this Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:
Evaluating impacts to environmental or historic resources by applying environmental laws such as the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Wild and Scenic River Act, or Coastal Zone Management Act;
Providing technical guidance related to environmental and historic preservation to internal and external stakeholders; and
Drafting standard operating procedures, guidance documents, or consultation letters related to environmental or historic preservation compliance
To qualify for this Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:
Serving as an expert-level analyst and advisor to senior management on Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) program work with specific focus on Executive Order 12898: Environmental Justice.
Ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations or prevent/mitigate impacts to environmental and historic resources as a result of agency program implementation.
Providing guidance to Federal, State, local, tribal, territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector contractors performing FEMA EHP work regarding methods used to meet established objectives
