The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is recruiting for one (1) Maintenance Supervisor in the Engineering Service. This supervisor is assigned to the preventive Maintenance Unit. The Supervisor follows standard procedures and established policies to assure efficient and economical accomplishments of work is done.

Duties
Provides management, guidance, and coordination for the repair, maintenance and oversight of Carpentry/Lock Unit assigned projects.
Consults with contractor personnel to resolve difficult and complex unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during maintenance.
Calls attention to issues that may arise requiring leadership intervention or correction.
Provides advice on solving complex mechanical system-related problems.
Develops business cases through extensive internal and external research to meet local through National priorities for Veteran care, projects meet a variety of gaps to include technological and regulatory deficiencies.
Evaluates design objectives, performs complex technical calculations, identifies most economical and efficient procedures for project design and performance considering all influences.
Acts as a contracting officer representative (COR).
Prepares correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports and schedules as required to complete project assignments.
Assures that all performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion for all areas under the Mechanical Pipe Unit.
Manages and provides ongoing oversight on certain maintenance service contracts.
Oversees, directs, or administers the development, production, and or maintenance of materials, components, equipment, or other systems or sub-systems.
The incumbent follows proper policies, procedures, and regulations in procurement, orders appropriately based on contracts, and utilizes cost savings techniques when performing procurement tasks.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must have the ability to work from ladders, platforms, and scaffolding in overhead positions that will require working at arm's length or in stretched, cramped, or other such awkward positions. May also work at benches, at upright equipment or while material is being supported, requiring considerable bending, stooping, or prolonged standing. Occasionally, incumbent may be required to lift and carry items that weigh up to fifty (50) pounds. When necessary, incumbent will need to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
