Duties
Performs analysis on items (NSN/non-NSN) to enhance the procurement process, sourcing issue(s), ensure quality assurance level and customer support.
Provides recommendations and technical/quality support in one or more of the following areas: Organic Manufacturing, Should Cost, Price Challenges, Spare Parts Breakout, Source Approval Requests (SARs),
determine Reverse Engineering opportunities, Replenishment Parts Purchase or Buy (RPPOB), and parts manufactured using Casting and Forgings.
Analyze technical source documents such as engineering drawings, blueprints, commercial and military specifications and standards to determine adequacy of technical data packages.
Assists in resolving technical/quality issues pertaining to the characteristics and uses of the item.
Monitor workload, compile statistics, and brief leadership on supply chain related issues.
Work with other DLA/DoD functional disciplines to resolve conflicting priorities and to assist with providing recommendations to resolve technical issues.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Quality Assurance Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical/quality data for supply items in various procurement and logistical data systems.
Reviewing technical data related information along with supply/procurement data, in order to assist with issues with supply/material availability.
Compiling statistics and prepares reports on program effectiveness, performing trend analyses, and briefing results.
Leading and/or conducting special projects/studies or participating in process improvement efforts to recommend improvements to technical and quality processes and procedures.
Leading and/or participating on cross functional teams to identify and resolve issues in order to resolve parts availability issues.
Interacting with Engineering Support Activities, Supply Chain Personnel, Vendors or other DoD entities in resolving warfighter logistic type issues.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Although the employee spends a considerable amount of time in an office, the work occasionally requires visits to military Repair Depots, Engineering Support Activities, contractors manufacturing facilities, military installations and field sites. Incumbent observes, makes technical/quality decisions, evaluates and reports on value engineering initiatives for the various DoD weapon systems that DLA support.
The employee works within the constraints of a variety of environments depending on the nature of the assignments. Although the employee spends a considerable amount of time in an office environment, his/her work occasionally involves exposure to discomfort and unpleasantness of high levels of noise in Military Repair Depots, at ESAs, at contractors manufacturing facilities, military sites, test laboratories, and depot settings. In some situations, the employee may be required to wear protective clothing, protective eyeglasses and hearing devices.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
