Duties

NOTE: This is a part-time position (20 hours/week). The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period. Likewise, benefits and time-off accrual will also be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
The position serves as a Social Science Program Coordinator - Employee Whole Health Coordinator and will have full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local initiative to support the health and well-being of employees. This involves assembling and coordinating the activities of a diverse planning team of health professionals and representatives from various services who will assist the coordinator in planning and implementing educational opportunities, well-being activities, and programs for employees. The Employee Whole Health Coordinator has the ultimate responsibility for planning and implementation of the local employee well-being program based on national guidance provided by the national Employee Whole Health program office. The expectation is that the Employee Whole Health Coordinator will address overall well-being issues for employees throughout the medical center and outlying areas including but not limited to nutrition, mental, emotional, social, physical, and environmental well-being based on Whole Health (WH) principles and the WH system of care.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT: You MUST meet the Basic Requirements and the Minimum Qualifications to qualify for this Social Science Program Coordinator position.
BASIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Four (4) years of appropriate experience in a position that demonstrates I have the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title; duties; month & year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major study in behavioral science, social science, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. The number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. COMBINATION OF BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in behavioral or social science or a subject-matter field appropriate to this position, plus appropriate experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study described above. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform work in this occupation. NOTE: If you qualify by a combination, transcripts are required, and your experience must be detailed in your resume.

In addition to meeting the above requirements, you must also meet one of the following minimum requirements.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Social Science Program Coordinator. Qualifying specialized experience includes: advising, educating, and assisting with planning, developing, and implementing a newly developed program; Performing data collection and analysis for assigned medical center programs; experience using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness; conducting need assessments of employees to determine program needs and interests; and managing program budget and responsible for purchasing a variety of products, materials, and goods used for promotional opportunities and activities.

Education: Successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in the related field of the position to be filled. The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Combination:Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first 2 years) and specialized experience as described above to meet total experience requirements. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: While some of the work is sedentary including researching, writing, program planning and data analysis, the position will have periods of extensive walking and movement throughout the healthcare system, prolonged standing, and transporting light to medium weight objects. The Employee Whole Health coordinator will also be required to travel between sites (CBOCs and outlying clinics) encompassed in the healthcare system. The work is conducted in a medical center environment and involves risk of exposure to a variety of contagious diseases. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, air conditioned, and ventilated.
