Qualifications
We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as experience supporting staff specialists with ongoing program coordination and project development on human health and the environment; completing strategies as liaison for bilateral or multilateral programs.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as experience assisting senior staff in the design or implementation of programs that protect human health and the environment; brief papers, talking points, or similar written materials; and track the progress of large-scale projects, identifying opportunities for improving project effectiveness/efficiency.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Ability to develop clear, concise recommendations for international programs
Experience implementing components of international environmental programs
Coordinating work in preparation for meetings
Ability to build coalitions that advance international program objectives
Skill in negotiating
Ability to manage funding instruments such as contracts or grants
Skill in tracking multiple pieces of data
Skill in writing briefing materials, position papers, etc.
Skill in oral communications.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
