About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Southwest Georgia Martin Army Community Hospital in areas such as primary care clinics, medicine and surgical clinics or Department of Emergency Medicine located in Fort Benning, GA. The primary purpose of this position is to perform nonprofessional nursing care, appointment clerical functions, receptionist duties, record keeping tasks associated with patient care

Duties
Prepare patients and rooms for examination, diagnostic testing, treatment and procedures.
Assist and or chaperon during patient exam, procedures, or treatments.
Clean wounds and applies bandages.
Review immunization records to assess for needed vaccines.
Obtain information from patients and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.
Greet patients, and answer phone calls communicating relevant information to the healthcare team.
Prepare and collect basic laboratory specimens.
Respond to emergency situations in accordance with regulatory guidance.
Use of personal protective equipment.
Perform a behavioral health screening.
Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups.
Maintain supply carts, with instruments and equipment.
Assist with admission and discharge of patients.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The employee must make ever attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of 18 years of age on a recurring basis.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification sponsored by the American Heart Association.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This is a Mission Essential position. Employee is required to remain in place or report for duty during inclement weather conditions or other appropriate emergency conditions.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1). providing clerical support within a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic; 2). scheduling medical appointments for patients; 3). takes and records vital signs (blood pressure, respirations, temperature, height, weight, and other required measurements; 4). input lab requests in automated database.

Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Health Technician, Health Science, or Health Services.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
