About the Position: This position is for a Lead Paramedic at Fort Moore, Georgia located within the Martin Army Community Hospital.
Duties
Respond to on-site accident and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses, encountering situations which may be life threatening.
Administer basic/advanced life support care at emergency scene in accordance with established medical standards.
Report both orally and in writing what injuries were identified to medical providers.
Utilize various tools/equipment, emergency medical equipment such as backboard, EKG monitor, defibrillator and mechanical CPR device.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires certification through the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
- Completion of pre-employment physical examination.
- Pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Screening and update of required immunizations.
- Incumbent to wear a uniform, scrubs, or other appropriate medical professional attire while on duty.
- Requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- Shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Basic Life Support certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- Probationary period of one year may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). evaluating procedures of patient care for compliance with emergency medical service; 2). responding to accidents or other emergencies involving injury or illnesses; 3). conducting examinations to obtain patient vital signs, initiating intravenous (IV) therapy, and 4). operating a patient transport vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
