The Northeast Ohio Veterans Affairs Healthcare Network is recruiting for an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, the Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor will function in Engineering Service.

Duties

The duties of the Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, include but are not limited to: Supervise HVAC design, repair, energy efficiency implementation, coordination, and utilization with design engineers, architects, other supervisors, medical center service chiefs and VISN level employees. Supervise workers directly in accomplishing trades and labor work operations in the assigned segment of the organization. Perform contract quality assurance, not limited to scope writing, maintenance of records, changes or modifications of contracts, correspondences to and from contract officer and contractor, (Certified COR-Level 1 minimum or within 90 days of hire). Routinely perform inspections, identify deficiencies and provide the accurate documentation of the inspections. Build automation systems including inputting new equipment, devices, controls. parameters, and measurable readings. Track and report progress on work assignments and request authority to adjust worker assignments to use overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules. Inspect completed work for quality compliance and work order requirements. Interact with patients, coworkers, supervisors, and visitors of the medical center, display a caring, helpful attitude and a willingness to be of assistance in resolving issues of concern. Display a true commitment to patient centered care, and the advancement of the medical center along continuum of patient centered care. Plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools. Establish deadlines, priorities, work sequences, off general work schedule, method and policies. Ability to reduce or eliminate the use of class 1 ozone depleting substances content materials and environmentally preferable products and services consistence with federal executive workplace applicable order(s). Seek to cost effectively meet or exceed compliance with applicable federal, state, and local, environmental, public health, and resource protection laws, regulations, and requirements. Properly store, handle, and dispose/ recycle of chemicals and waste associated with the heating and air conditioner trade. Adhere to executive orders, policies, and regulations to protect the air, water, land, and other natural and cultural resources. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor/PD91494O Physical Requirements: The physical effort at the grade 10 level because the equipment in the system is usually larger and must be maneuvered into and out of specific locations while dismantling and reassembling. Grade 10 mechanics frequently carry and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers. Grade 10 air conditioning equipment mechanics make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard- to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are frequently for longer periods of time. Working Conditions: Grade 10 mechanics are subject to the same shop conditions as lower graded mechanics, but they are occasionally required to work outside during extreme temperatures, on top of tall buildings, in drafty attics, in confided spaced, potential moldy spaces, and in cramped areas with low overheads. Required to wear a respirator, uncomfortable face masks and protective clothing, personal protective gear, also required when there is a possibility to exposure of toxic chemicals and materials in addition to refrigerants. The HVAC systems are larger at the grade 10 level and refrigerants are used in larger amounts; therefore, grade 10 mechanics are subject to larger amounts of escaping gases when making emergency repairs.
