About the Position: Serves as Clerk of Court and Senior Court Reporter for the 2d Judicial Circuit, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a circuit consisting of five active duty military judges and six reserve judges, as well as several installations comprising eleven General Court-Martial Convening Authorities.
Duties
Serves as Chief, Circuit Clerk for the 2d Judicial Circuit.
Balances the needs and desires for supporting offices to establish procedures that meet everyone's needs for a particular case.
Analyze all motions and fillings for approximately 40-50 cases at a times involving dozens of counsels and eight General Court-Martial Convening Authorities.
Serves as Clerk of Court and Senior Court Reporter for the 2d Judicial Circuit, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to provide verbatim reporting of military General Courts-Martial proceedings for official record.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Review trial records sent to the trial judges to identify missing or inaccurate documents, transcripts, and exhibits; AND 2) Identify issue that may arise at the last minute resulting in addition time on the docket such as inexperience counsel filing motions after a deadline or addressing issues during trial that should have been resolved pre-trial; AND 3) Provide high-speed dictation verbatim from recordings of court martials, hearings and investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Education
