About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade - Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Duties

Implement new system hardware/software and develop standard operating procedures. Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as hubs, bridges, routers, firewalls, switches, cabling systems, etc. Monitor the ongoing operation of the network via network monitoring tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure. Function test the hardware and software to resolve technical problems and make the appropriate on-site repairs. Complete operations, modifications, upgrades, and services for the network (LAN/WAN), routers, switches, wireless access points, virtual private networks, unsecure and secure Voice- Over-Internet-Protocol (VOIP) phones and VOIP switches) systems. Review requests for additions or modifications to existing network systems and compare with present layouts, which show existing equipment or new installations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Must obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive High Risk, T5 Top Secret clearance.
• This position is a Drug Testing Designated Position.
• TDY 10% may be required.
• May be required to work overtime. Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
• May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• May be required to work shift work if the organization moves to a 24/7 operation.
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a valid government vehicle operators license.
• May be required to carry a cellular telephone and maintain a working home telephone at all times.
• A physical examination is required lifting up to 40 pounds.
