You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT, COMMANDER, NAVY EXPEDITIONARY COMBAT COMMAND of CDR NAVY EXPEDITIONARY COMBAT COMMAND.

Duties

You will assure state-of-the-art safety and occupational health management concepts, principles, and techniques are incorporated into all aspects of the NECC /NECCPAC safety programs. You will develop policies and procedures pertaining to safety and occupational health management; accident prevention and control; and safety and occupational health training. You will develop and maintain educational, motivational and regulatory programs for a variety of target audiences, including managers, commanders, supervisors, and expeditionary Sailors and Marines. You will serves as the Force Safety Manager, providing broad policy and administrative direction for the safety office. You will review and evaluate suggestions and complaints from individuals and reports of audits, surveys, inspections, and investigations.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Incumbent must be physically able to perform job requirements for extended periods

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying safety and occupational health concepts, principles, techniques, practices, laws, and regulations to plan, organize, administer, coordinate, and evaluate occupational safety and health program and elements assigned. Experience utilizing practical engineering methods and techniques, expeditionary operational hazards, and fault tree analysis. Experience performing tasks using methodologies applied by industrial hygienists, fire and life safety professionals, budgetary personnel, education specialists, and personnel specialists. Experience evaluating safety policies and devise innovative hazard control measures applicable to new building construction and industrial modifications to identify and anticipate potential problems. Experience assessing a variety of civilian and military combatant craft, vehicles and equipment. Experience enforcing techniques used by explosive safety officers, training safety officers, crane safety, dive and jump safety, quarry safety and afloat safety to coordinate safety programs and actions relating to force wide accident prevention. Experience providing correspondence of a technical nature both in writing and verbally, utilizing proper grammar and specialized safety vocabulary. Experience using computer hardware and software, graphics software, and database programs, sufficient to develop and implement professional and effective training and briefing materials. Experience working independently to plan and implement projects.
