You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT of CDR NAVY EXPEDITIONARY COMBAT COMMAND.
Duties
You will serve as Deputy to Force Safety Director, assisting in broad policy and administrative direction for the safety office.
You will assist the Force Safety Director in planning, administering, coordinating and evaluating a comprehensive occupational safety and health program for NECC/NECCPAC.
You will plan and implement safety and occupational health training, education and promotion;
and safety awards.
You will coordinate and interpret the investigation and evaluation program of subordinate commands and activities under the direction of the Force Safety Director.
You will identify existing or potential problems areas and their primary or root causes and assists in
developing and initiating the necessary corrective actions and countermeasures.
You will provide sound technical advice, respond to inquiries and resolve problems (e.g. application and feasibility of regulations, material system safety management) received from higher authority.
You will formulate and establish broad policy, guidance, plans, and direction for carrying out the provisions
of Public Law 91-956, Executive Order 12196, 29 CFR 1960, 1926, 1915, 1918, MSHA and OSHA standards.
You will collaborate with the Force Safety Director in the development of safety program priorities, goals and objectives for eliminating or otherwise reducing occupational accidents, injuries and illnesses.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
For the GS-11:
In order to qualify for the SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY SPECIALIST, GS-0018-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience performing tasks that involve using knowledge of safety and occupational health concepts, principles, techniques, practices, laws, and regulations.
Experience using practical engineering methods and techniques, expeditionary operational hazards, and fault tree analysis.
Experience applying practical knowledge techniques and procedures applied by industrial hygienists, fire and life safety professionals, budgetary personnel, education specialists, and personnel specialists.
Experience utilizing computer hardware and software, graphics software, and database programs to produce professional and effective training and briefing.
Experience evaluating safety policies and devising innovative hazard control measures applicable to new building construction and industrial modifications.
For the GS-09:
In order to qualify for the SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY SPECIALIST, GS-0018-09, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience performing tasks that involve using knowledge of safety and occupational health concepts, principles, techniques, practices, laws, and regulations.
Experience using practical engineering methods and techniques, expeditionary operational hazards, and fault tree analysis.
Experience applying practical knowledge techniques and procedures used by industrial hygienists, fire and life safety professionals, budgetary personnel, education specialists, and/or personnel specialists.
Experience assisting, delivering and producing professional and effective training and briefings.
Experience evaluating safety policies and assisting with the development of innovative hazard control measures applicable to new building construction and industrial modifications.

GS-11 level with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. orequivalent doctoral degree
or
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
Successful completion of a LL.M., if related.
