About the Position: This position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC).

Duties

Pass on instructions received from supervisor and starts work (e.g. by assigning immediate tasks to individual members of the group led). Ensure needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Check work progress and when finished and checks for compliance with supervisor’s instructions on work sequence procedures, methods, and deadlines. Ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g. ensures machine capacities are not exceeded and tools are properly used). Work along others, setting the pace.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• May require a pre-employment and annual physical examination.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointment (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. There are no return/reemployment rights to the position vacated prior to accepting the time-limited appointment. Hoists, hand trucks, and other workers are available for heavier items. Working Conditions: Work in a well lighted, heated, ventilated shop. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and times. subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes, and other safety apparel and equipment as required.
