Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Community Living Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing authoritative advice on the interpretation of Federal laws, regulations, and policies as they pertain to assigned program activities. Advising and providing guidance to competitively funded grantees in understanding and implementing new and existing program policy to ensure development and maintenance of an effective and productive program. Monitoring grants and contracts to ensure implementation of requirements to determine compliance with the work plans, as well as project progress toward approved work program goals. Analyzing and evaluating methods and techniques to compile, analyze, evaluate and summarize data, identify problems, analyze alternatives, draw conclusions, and recommend solutions for discretionary training and technical assistance and capacity building programs. Developing replies to correspondence with respect to policy interpretation and a wide range of discretionary and mandatory grants program-related inquiries, problems and concerns of a highly complex nature from the Congress, the White House, key States and local officials, special interest groups and the general public.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Requirement: Must meet one of the items listed below: - Possess a 4-year bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science from an accredited college or university; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) - Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcripts) - Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. -AND- Minimum Qualifications: In additional to meeting at least one of the basic requirements above, you must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3)of the following: Collaborating, communicating, and balancing competing interests with internal and external stakeholder to advance agency goals and priorities. Identifying problems and providing resolutions related to grants and/or contracts. Providing recommendations to influence managers or other officials to accept and/or implement findings on program improvements, and/or other program management issues. Developing and maintaining relationships for improved experiences and outcomes of grant and/or contract administration/management. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
