You will serve as a DEPUTY AIRFIELD MANAGER in the Air Operations Department of NB CORONADO.

Duties

You will advise on the opening and closing of an airfield to air traffic based on facility, personnel, or equipment capabilities. You will forecast budget requirements for airfield operations to fund requirements. You will evaluate work (e.g., methods, staffing, assignments) of a department to initiate actions that will reduce cost or improve productivity. You will brief others as an airfield subject matter expert on the potential impacts to an airfield and safety of flight. You will review traffic management plans, programs, policies, procedures, systems, and techniques to accomplish mission requirements for airfield operations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to successfully complete an airfield vehicle operator's course.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting airfield checks to judge airfield conditions (i.e. pavements, runways, taxiways, signage, etc.) in accordance with federal and agency air operation laws and regulations; 2) Managing a complex airfield schedule with multiple and competing priorities for limited resources; 3) Developing an airfield budget to ensure funds are available for required supplies, equipment, and personnel; 4) Assigning work to subordinates in accordance with airfield priorities. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.
