This position is located under the Office of Environmental Health and Engineering (OEHE) for the Great Plains Area Indian Health Service and performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the organization. The incumbent of this position reports to the Director of Facilities Management.

Duties

Processing a wide variety of budgetary transactions and compiling status of funds, and associated reports. Reviews vouchers and purchase requests for accuracy. Compiles and distributes information for use in community profiles, injury reports, position papers. Logs and distributes environmental health survey reports. Independently composes letters and memorandums, manages calendar and appointment schedules, collects and reports data, makes travel arrangements and process reimbursement claims.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-5: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 OR 4 years of education above high school To qualify at this grade based on specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Performing clerical work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing and verifying documents; maintaining office records; and locating and compiling data or information from files and other data sources; preparing vouchers and other financial documents. GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-5 To qualify at this grade based on specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Creating a variety of correspondence in proper formats using word processing programs; maintaining manual and electronic calendars to add, delete, or change meetings; processing a wide variety of budgetary transactions; serving as a receptionist or point-of-contact for an office; and performing data entry into an automated timekeeping system. GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-6 To qualify at this grade based on specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:??????? Managing calendars and meeting schedules for higher level staff; performing specialized office tasks in support of a unit including screening training requests; compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare reports; processing a wide variety of budgetary transactions. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. 40 words per minute typing speed. Words per minute are based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience --Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

There are no education requirements, however if you are substituting education for experience you are strongly encouraged to submit a copy of your transcripts or a list of your courses including titles, credit hours completed, and grades.
