THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0734000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Duties

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8852-10, you will supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and perform associated nonsupervisory work. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommend the scheduling of projected work. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implement corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Set performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Initiate or participate in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Perform the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Review work in progress or on completion. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank: E7 / Maximum Rank: E8 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs, ability to explain manuals and work procedures and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-10 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 36 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. SUPERVISORY SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which required you to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; experience adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
