This position is located at the VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the work of the Boiler Plant, Chiller Plant, Sections of Facilities Management Service and the Operations Section of the Facilities Management Service which is comprised of the Electric & Elevator Maintenance Shop, as well as the Plumbing, & Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Shops
Duties
Major duties include:
Analyzes work schedules, determines manpower requirements and plans work assignments.
Prepares annual budget for funds needed for maintenance and repair including contracted services for building service equipment, and other equipment, excluding biomedical equipment.
Organizes, coordinates and direct the work activities and foreman of the shops supervised.
Maintains balanced workloads for subordinate shops.
Review and analyzes production, cost of other records to evaluate progress of work.
Trains and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff.
Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors.
Schedules and approves leave of subordinate supervisors.
Perform other assigned duties.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am until 4:30pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. May lift or carry tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. May occasionally lift and carry items over 50 pounds. May work from ladders, scaffolding, and/or hydraulic platforms. Requires working in uncontrolled environments, in inclement weather conditions, and in confined or uncomfortable spaces. Occasionally is subject to possible dangerous working conditions including exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections. May be subject to electrical shock and/or electrical burns, cuts, bruises, and strains. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks in a safe manner.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
