You will serve as a COLUMBIA CLASS PROJECT DESIGN DIVISION MANAGER in the Design Construction Division, Columbia Project Department of SUPSHIP Groton. You will manage the project's responsibilities for engineering contract administration of Columbia Class design and construction support interface and Trident Planning Yard contracts, including SUPSHIP Groton responsibilities for specification development/coordination and the coordination of design/construction for the SSBN Class.
Duties
You will assist the technical and contract management office established to administer procurement contracts for the design, construction, conversion, modernization, and repair of nuclear submarines.
You will provide technical and administrative contract management for design and construction support of Columbia Class submarines performed by the Electric Boat Corporation (EB) of General Dynamics.
You will provide administrative and technical supervision to the Columbia Class Project staff and design/construction support division, including coordination of individuals having matrix responsibilities.
You will give advice, counsel or instruction to assigned employees on both work and administrative matters.
You will represent SUPSHIP effectively and authoritatively to top management level of the Navy and provide oversight of private industry teams.
You will support the Command's EEO program.
You will formulate SSBN unique policies and approaches.
You will coordinate and host meetings and negotiations with PEO-SUBS/NAVSEA, EB and other industry officials to develop joint programmatic technical approaches to various program elements.
You will review and assessment of technological advances to determine potential impact upon SUPSHIP and/or EB SSBN efforts.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing administrative and technical support for ship or submarine design or construction projects.
