This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, MUTILATED CURRENCY DIVISION. As a MUTILATED CURRENCY SPECIALIST, you will undertake reconstructing and the identification of partially and totally destroyed, including white ash residue, and/or mutilated currency.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Determines the best method to identify currency. This could include the use of chemicals, heating, freezing, hardening, softening and other methods devised by the incumbent to separate and identify currency residue.
Assume responsibility for a significant amount of currency to be reconstructed.
Determine the value of each claim, by applying laws, regulations and policies.
Serve as an expert witness in testifying in Federal Courts on the amount and legitimacy of the reconstructed currency.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-5, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. General Experience for this position includes:
- Experience assisting or participating as part of a team that examine cases or claims.
OR
You may substitute education for general experience as follows: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
