About the Position: Serves as a Protocol Specialist with the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and Presidio of Monterey. The mission of the DLIFLC is to educate, sustain, evaluate, and support foreign language specialist under the guidelines of the Defense Foreign Language Program, which provides the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies with linguists fully capable of supporting United States national interests worldwide.

Duties

Oversee all protocol phases of planned visits and functions. Plan, coordinate, execute, and supervise the conduct of visits to DLIFLC and Presidio of Monterey. Plan and develop the execution of detailed itineraries considering time and place of arrival, size of the group, etc. Compose and type replies to a wide variety of matters relating to plans of visits. Evaluate after action reports in order to assess visitors, impression, analyzes problems encountered to make recommendations on changes to command policies impacting on protocol programs. Draft and edit correspondence in accordance with Army standards.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position may require incumbent to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• You may be expected to travel up to 10% of the time.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: International relations, Communications, Political Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. . Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days from the date the referral list is issued
