You will serve as a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (VERY LOW FREQUENCY TRANSMITTER) in the TRANSMITTER DEPARTMENT of NRS T JIM CREEK.

Duties

You will test, repair calibrate and install communications electronic equipment for the operation and maintenance of the one megawatt radio transmitter and associated devices and systems. You will operate and repair digital communication systems equipment interface devices. You will operate test equipment such as digital frequency counter, field intensity analyzers, very low resistance bridge (doctor) and Meter Calibrator. You will conduct training of less qualified personnel. You will overhaul minimum shift keying equipment which includes frequency division multiplex equipment and serial binary digital phase modulators. You will prepare and maintain daily maintenance logs, reports and records. You will operate high voltage transformer oil transfer and purification system and oil insulation breakdown testing devices. You will maintain safety equipment and initiate action to correct all safety hazards. You will perform supply functions pertaining to the department.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (VERY LOW FREQUENCY TRANSMITTER), WG-2604-11, without More Than Normal Supervision such as: Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on various electronic and electrical devices utilizing established procedures delineated on maintenance requirement cards for specific equipment. Operating, maintaining, repairing, testing, aligning and overhauling minimum shift keying equipment which includes frequency division multiplex equipment and serial binary digital data phase modulators. Conducting training of less qualified personnel. Operating and assist in repair, testing, alignment and maintenance of Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio receiving/monitoring systems which include VLF radio receivers, analog to serial binary digital data phase demodulators, frequency division demulti-plex equipment and quality control equipment, as well a Programmable logic circuitry. Interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, control ladders, functional drawings and graphs associated with electronic equipment and circuitry is required. Performing collateral duties as assigned by Electronics Mechanic Supervisor.
