Kansas City VA Medical Center is seeking a Laborer who wil be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of grounds, including mowing grass, planting seed, laying sod, caring for plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Have the ability and knowledge to apply herbicides and pesticides on plants, grass, trees and shrubs, as necessary. Daily clean up and removal of trash or smoking articles from the grounds and building entrances.

Prunes trees to remove dead limbs and to aid in proper growth. Repair asphalt roads, potholes, and ramps Snow and ice removal from the medical center grounds Move heavy furniture, freezers, refrigerators, equipment, etc. Assist facilities journeyman as requested Perform monthly inspections of GSA and other vehicles assigned to the medical center Mowing and upkeep of grass Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday though Friday - 6:00am to 4:30pm/Tours may vary at times. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work requires heavy physical effort with frequent lifting and moving of heavy equipment and materials. Incumbent is required to routinely lift objects weighting up to 80 lbs. and occasionally items much heavier. Work will be mostly outside in hot, cold, dusty, and windy conditions. In rain, snow, and sleet. Expected to respond to call backs when properly notified. May spend long hours in harsh environments during and after regular duty hours. Must be in good mental and physical condition.
