This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as a joint education and training advisor and action officer. The work is in direct support of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and includes Title 10 responsibilities concerning education of the joint force.
Duties
As a JOINT EDUCATION ADVISOR at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Formulates and coordinates the officer and enlisted professional military education policy for the Armed Forces.
Develops policy standards for the Department of Defense's (DOD) intermediate-level and senior-level colleges that are synchronized with the Joint Staff's education review process and the process for accreditation of joint professional military education.
Organizes, leads, and facilitates education policy working groups to foster collaboration across the DOD, Services, intermediate-level and senior-level colleges, and combatant commands (CCMD), to ensure education policy remains current, relevant, and is consistent.
Coordinates Joint Staff responses to education initiatives from across the DOD.
Collaborates with education experts within and outside the DOD to ensure learning methodologies are aligned.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Serving as a specialist in pedagogy with in-depth knowledge of the organization and operation of the Department of Defense and the U.S. military;
Oral and written communication skills as applied to the preparation of projects; reports; education policies and procedures; responses to draft legislation; briefings; proposals; and similar documentation;
Coordinating effectively across large organizations;
Convincing, influencing, advising, and responding to senior staff soliciting information. Skilled at leading teams or studies then presenting and defending conclusions;
Developing and maintaining effective relationships while providing expert advice;
Formulating and coordinating education policy and propose new military education initiatives;
Planning, conducting, and evaluating studies on military education, then developing analysis and recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
