About the Position: This Lead Engineering Technician position is located at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center, with a duty location of Aberdeen, Maryland.

Duties

Applies automotive testing procedures and requirements, including understanding the intricacies of test ranges, maintenance requirements, and the specifications of testing equipment and systems. Manages and coordinates various projects simultaneously, such as test range maintenance, real property assessments, and equipment scheduling, ensuring all activities are aligned with the organization's objectives and standards. Communicates with a diverse range of stakeholders, including team members, management, external organizations, and public representatives, ensuring clear articulation of assignments, project goals, actionable events, and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to applicant testing and random drug testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
  • This position requires a satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical exam.
  • This position has a requirement to lift moderately heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires the employee to participate in the Medical Surveillance Program per ATC Reg 385-2.
  • This position requires access to arms and ammunitions and will be covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • This position is subject to a Temporary Duty or business travel requirement of 20% or less of the time.
  • A one-year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working on setup, execution, and cleanup of automotive and/or maintenance equipment; and 2) Supporting systems, components, and/or test operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-03 or GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required specialized experience in order to qualify.
