This role is situated in the Prosthetic Treatment Center (PTC), VA Medical Center, located in Nashville, Tennessee and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The primary purpose of this position is to provide patient care/support services to the adult population.
Duties

Informs Orthotic Lab staff of the arrival of scheduled appointments.
Examines clinical health records, claim folders, and medical entitlements for prosthetic items and services.
Proficient in medical, prosthetics, orthotic terminology.
Maintains close contact with Physicians, therapists, and nurses prescribing necessary services.
Maintains continuous liaison with vendors, staff, veterans, and their family, ensuring timely provision of prosthetic appliances and services.
Deliver tailored care suitable for the diverse age group of the patients attended to.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 4) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: meeting and recording customer arrival; utilizes office automation equipment (electric typewriter, computer, fax machine, copy machine); entering data in preparation for submitting reports; complies with all safety rules and regulations; provide customer service to internal and external customers; assists in handling administrative tasks; interpret written and oral instructions.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Physical Requirements:
The stress encountered throughout the workday in coordinating the delivery of prosthetic appliances and/or services with physicians, social workers, therapist, seriously ill and severely disabled veterans and their families, vendors and the arranging delivery for health care and life-support equipment is an unavoidable aspect of the position.
