This position is located in the in the APHIS, Veterinary Services, Field Operation, Logistics Center, National Veterinary Stockpile Program (NVSP). The position involves a variety of materials handling duties, preservation, packing, repacking, storage and/or shipment and distribution of a variety of veterinary supplies, equipment and materials in support of the NVSP.
Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Follows established policies, procedures and guidelines for issues related to environmental protection, safety, biosafety, and occupational health.
Closely follows the warehouse management system’s guidelines usage in a manner that ensures data accuracy and targets zero data entry errors.
Works independently in a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, handling, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment.
Inspects, receives, sorts, ships, counts, identifies, storing, packaging, and is knowledgeable of special handling techniques and procedures required for processing of hazardous material.
Identifies obvious damage to equipment and materials through visual inspection.
Ensures special requirements are met in the storing, monitoring, packaging, and shipping of temperature sensitive products.
Selects correct storage location using hard-copy or automated material identification equipment such as bar code wands, computer terminals, and laser scanners.
Operates aisle lifts, conveyors, mechanized carousels, manual dollies, electric jacks, and hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, band cutters, and pliers.
Receives and marks incoming stock in accordance with standard operation instructions and completes forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue and labeling requirements for materials.
Requirements
