About the Position: This position will be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Exercise search and apprehension authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action.
Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with requirements and maintain certification under the Individual Reliability Program,
- Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes to include include weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System training requirements.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- This position is designated as mission essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) during Inclement weather conditions or other designed / identified emergency conditions.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Clearance.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has been grandfathered or has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. coordinating police unit responses to crimes in progress; 2. responding to traffic patrol emergencies; 3. Reviewing and preparing accurate and concise police reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Special Placement Factor: This position requires the incumbent to have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has been grandfathered or has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
