About the Position: Serve as Human Resource Assistant (Military) and HR System Analysts/Manager and for the Public Health Activity - Fort Lewis (PHA-FL). Primary duties involve applying specialized human resources knowledge coupled with knowledge of automated personnel action processing to facilitate efficient, accurate, and timely personnel actions for the battalion.
Duties
Prepare and submit standard actions (i.e. name change, request for reassignment, compassionate reassignment, application for training, etc.) on a Personnel Action Request (PAR) utilizing the Integrated Personnel and Pay Systems (IPPS-A)
Perform a wide spectrum of Human Resource Management functions requiring a broad use and understanding of military personnel utilization, strength accountability, reorganizations, Table Distribution Allowances (TDA), and Human Capital Distribution.
Track evaluation requirements based on receipt of rating schemes, annual listing, notification of duty changes, change of raters, or impending PCS, separations, and preparation for promotion/schools boards.
Serves as a finance liaison between Soldiers and the installation finance and military personnel directorate for personnel management functions on both JBLM and Fort Wainwright.
Verify that each Soldier’s pay, entitlements, and leave balances are correct on the Unit Commanders Finance Report (UCFR) and that any allotments started or stopped have been noted on the Leave and Earnings Statement (LES).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience providing customer service to military personnel; using military personnel procedures and operations to complete personnel actions; and answer questions on military programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
