This position is located at the VA Medical Center, Tomah, WI and is being established and aligned in accordance with providing administrative and management related support by analyzing, evaluating, advising, and/or coordinating processes and activities for Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI), Suicide Prevention Program (SPP), and Specialty Mental Health to include Pain and Neuro Psychology services within Mental Health Service Line (MHSL).
Duties
.This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-9. At the GS-7 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-9. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher- level work, and availability of funds.
Major Duties:
Handles requests for information, and resolves or assists in resolving a variety of problems.
Develop systems to track, measure, and ensure accountability for ongoing local, VISN, and National performance measures assigned as well as providing administrative and management support to the section in the following capacity.
Independently triage the importance of issues, identify key staff as resources, and make prompt decisions on matters concerning policy, conforming to the Services' expectations and established regulations.
Provides management assistance for the Services' councils, task forces, committees, and meetings.
Collects data for the Services' reports, reviews data for accuracy, and completes reports assuring submission to meet established deadlines.
Completes assessments of the Services processes and procedures, including researching applicable regulations and directives, and provides formulated data to management for development of local policies and standard operating procedures.
Serves as a project coordinator, collaborates with other staff as needed within the MHSL for the purpose of project completions and meeting performance measures and timelines.
Assists the Services in preparing, revising/implementing new program guides, forms, and preparing and updating Medical Center Policies and procedures, and short/long range goals.
Provides administrative responsibility for tri-folders and employee records/files; orientation of new staff; drafts/reviews service policies, plans, and procedures for employees supervised under the Services.
Performs other duties assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Superior Academic Achievement: (SAA) at the baccalaureate level in the coursework detailed below is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. To qualify for SAA, applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a curriculum that is related to and qualifying for the position to be filled and meet one of the following: 1. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision. 2. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. 3. A grade point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. 4. Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

Possess at least one full year of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree etc. in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level equivalent to the Federal GS-5 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that included: performing analytical, evaluative, and advisory work; managing and coordinating administrative services essential to the effective operation of a clinical program; managing mental health projects/programs; compiling data and preparing reports; providing administrative support; preparing a variety of reports, forms, and correspondence; and utilizing various software programs to accomplish administrative duties.

Possess an equivalent combination of graduate education and experience to meet the total experience requirements for the GS-7 grade level. NOTE: To calculate the combination of education and experience, determine the amount of experience you have as a percentage for the grade level. Then determine the amount of graduate education you have as a percentage for the grade level. Add the two percentages; the total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify for the grade level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work is often sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, charts, reports, and files may be necessary.
Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. May require occasional travel. Employee is also expected to perform duties that may involve spending time on psychiatrist patient care units and outpatient clinic.
