About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Template Technician (OA) that provides a wide variety of administrative/evaluative support. This person will serve as the schedule creator in an automated health care system for the Hospital which includes all primary and specialty health care clinics and providers.
Duties
Independently develop and/or implement processes and procedures, and schedules to achieve objectives, and interprets a variety of regulations and directives.
Coordinate and input appointment schedules for providers.
Monitor schedules to avoid conflicts in different clinical schedules and ensure appointments are timely and in accordance with provider requests.
Review work load within the clinics and address any changes with the Template Supervisor.
Manage all templates and scheduling functions, including development and implementation of all primary/specialty care templates and schedules.
Prepare all programming, manage the system and gather data as necessary.
Analyze templates and schedules for efficiency and optimal productivity.
Monitor supply and demand for health care services and develop a plan to adapt schedules to meet or exceed demand.
Develop appropriate reports to provide timely feedback to staff concerning resolving all scheduling issues.
Assist in training new employees in all aspects of template and schedule development and management.
Provide and/or arrange for needed development and training for self and other employees.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes operating an automated scheduling system to change/adjust templates based on availability; preparing administrative reports, graphs, and/or charts regarding scheduling issues; and monitoring scheduling trends and/or making recommendations to resolve scheduling conflicts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
