You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Office of Special Technology of NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY. All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Office of Special Technology (OST) on all collateral and Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) disciplines. You will serve as the command's subject matter expert (SME) for the Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Program, as well as the Security Education and Training Awareness Program. You will ensure the protection and effective security administration of intelligence-related information and systems under cognizance of the Concepts, Development and Management (CDM) Office. You will perform multi-disciplinary security functions relative to both the US government and the industry.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This has been designated a Key Essential Position.
  • Must be available for recall after normal duty hours.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5 days per month.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing expertise that encompasses all security disciplines as they relate to the protection of all Collateral and Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI); 2) Planning, reviewing, and evaluating the implementation of security policies and procedures as they apply to the protection of DoD multi-faceted, highly classified programs; 3) Evaluating and merging various agencies' security requirements into policies that fit within the framework established by various security disciplines; 4) Providing security advisory services, training, and presenting briefings to the Chief of Security, Senior Leaders, Program Managers, and other participating government agencies and/or private industry; and, 5) Supporting agency wide requirements in developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate organizational Collateral and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security programs, policies, and development of Security Classification Guides.
