You will serve as a Security Specialist for the Department of Navy, Office of Special Technology (OST) on all Collateral and Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI). This position is located at NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY.

Duties

You will provide subject-matter expert advice or perform complex assignments involving the development, evaluation, implementation, or execution of security programs. You will determine the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions. You will coordinate or perform functions and tasks involved in the development, evaluation, implementation, or execution of information security programs, including specialized security programs for intelligence related information and systems. You will devise protection systems, which will provide maximum security with the least interference in the organizations mission. You will analyze, evaluate, and integrate data from multiple sources to assess the relevance and significance of developments in his/her assigned areas. You will prepare new or modify previous analyses, assessments, and other products by applying expert judgement and ingenuity in interpreting information and providing recommendations or making decisions which impact policies and programs. You will identify security gaps, specify requirements to fill gaps, provide new methodologies and techniques to eliminate gaps, and evaluate security requirements.

Requirements

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a 2-Year DCIPS trial period requirement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serve as the commands Subject Matter Expert (SME) for anti-terrorism and Force Protection program, and Security Education and Training Awareness program; Perform in depth research, analysis, training, and procedural guidance in support of the agency as an agency appointed lead for the Information Security program; Perform multi-disciplinary security functions, relative to both the Government and industry, requiring a level of expertise in organizational structures, mission, and programs to produce cognizant support to Chief of Security requirements.
