THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Airlift Wing (AW), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Air National Guard.

Duties

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant (CCM), the Wing Senior Enlisted Leader and key member of the command's leadership team managing all military aspects of full time and traditional enlisted Airmen. A CCM is the commander's key enlisted advocate and advisor on operational effectiveness and the organization, training and equipping of enlisted Airmen. CCMs ensure the commanders' directions and policies are carried out and the Airmen understand and are dedicated to the mission of the command. CCMs are responsible for the professional development and proper utilization of the command's enlisted force. CCMs work in concert with other enlisted leaders such as group superintendents and first sergeants to oversee the readiness, training, health, morale, welfare, quality of life and force development of assigned personnel. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Advises, carries out and monitors the Wing Commander's organizational policies, programs and standards applicable to the ANG enlisted force. Manages, studies, analyzes and oversees the administration, coordination, planning, development, and execution of all Wing level ANG enlisted members programs with particular emphasis on readiness, morale, welfare, discipline, performance, training, awards and recognition, recruiting, equal opportunity, promotion, assignment and reassignment, administration and utilization, as they affect the service contributions of Wing ANG enlisted personnel to the accomplishment of the state's federal and domestic missions. Provides general supervision of the assigned ANG enlisted forces and is the functional manager for the wing First Sergeants, and the wing Honor Guard program. Develops, participates, and provides guidance in planning, publicizing, and administering ANG enlisted awards and recognition programs at the wing. Wing ANG CCMs are the Wing Commanders key enlisted advocate and advisor on all DoD, NGB, state, and unit level enlisted policies regarding readiness, training, professional development, utilization of the force, operations tempo, standards, conduct and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Must possess an Associates Degree or higher.
  • Must have completed the Air National Guard Chief Master Sergeant Orientation Course (ANG CMSCOC).
  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
  • Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
  • Direct Deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of management principles, organizational theory and techniques of analysis and evaluation. Knowledge of standardized administrative practices and procedures. Ability to the resolve issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature, deal with readily observable conditions and apply qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques. Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices of a professional or administrative occupation, such as would be gained through extended study or experience, and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.
