This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Risk Management Policy Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C. Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $270,000.

Duties

As Section Chief, Policy and Program Development Section, leads in the supervision, administration and control of Section operations. Assists the Associate Director, Risk Management Policy Branch, in the operations of the Branch. As directed by the Associate Director, represents the Division in FDIC-only and interagency development of regulations or supervisory guidance regarding a wide variety of bank supervision topics, including but not limited to credit risk, appraisals, brokered deposits, and corporate governance and risk management. Reviews and evaluates legislative proposals, other studies, reports and proposals regarding credit risk, appraisals, brokered deposits, and corporate governance and risk management matters prepared by Section Specialists, other Corporation personnel, other Federal agencies and from outside Government. Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel assigned to the Policy and Program Development Section. Assigns projects and monitors progress of the projects which have been assigned to the Section's staff and personnel on detail to the Section. Is responsible for performing directly and/or coordinating the performance of a wide variety of projects assigned to the Section. Specifically works on bank supervisory matters of a complex nature. Assists the Associate Director in determining and defining new projects and in establishing overall objectives of the Branch. Reviews and assesses the impact of new legislation, technological developments, and similar matters as these relate to the examination process and broader supervisory functions. Actively participates with other Divisions and Offices in the development of new agency regulations. Reviews the Manual of Examination Policies, Trust Examination Manual, Application Procedures Manual, Examination Documentation Modules, and other examination and supervision related tools, and, when necessary, supervises the revision or update of same. Speaks at Corporation conferences and at meetings with other financial institution regulators, industry representatives, and the public about examination, supervisory or regulatory matters, particularly those related to credit risk, appraisals, brokered deposits, and governance and risk management issues. Participates in the training of other personnel in both formal and informal settings. Exercises supervisory personnel management authority and performs the full range of performance management duties to include: planning, assigning, and reviewing work products of subordinates; establishing guidelines and performance expectations; and, evaluating work performance and providing feedback to others on their performance. Identifies training and developmental needs for staff and provides regular recognition of staff. Works in collaboration with the appropriate Human Resources and Legal staff to administer disciplinary action. Hears and resolves grievances or other disputes as appropriate. Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the following leadership and technical experiences. These qualifications would typically be gained through serving in roles that require managing projects/teams or guiding the technical work of others. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, skills, and ability can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must submit a resume that addresses each minimum qualification experience. Leadership Experience: Experience coordinating the work of employees in a work unit, including assigning and evaluating work; setting priorities, timelines, and expectations; and monitoring progress against goals. Technical Experience: Experience involving the development or analysis of bank examination policies, banking industry guidance, or banking related issues. Selective Placement Factor: Candidates must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC or another organization with comparable commissioning criteria used by the FDIC’s Division of Risk Management Supervision.
