The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is accepting applications for Plasterer Aide summer internships that offer skill enrichment and experiential learning while promoting careers in the public service.
Duties
Plasterer Aide: The Aide will assist journey-level plasterers to learn flat wall and fibrous plastering, casting, ornamental carving, preservation and conservation plastering techniques. Detailed instructions are provided on new assignments along with close supervision and review. Interns in this role will learn how to mix and apply traditional plaster and stucco trade techniques; manage the job site by sanding, rubbing and washing, removing scaffolds and temporary covers and moving equipment and surplus materials as needed. Additionally, students will assist with delivering tools, equipment and materials to jobs sites, and maintain a clean and orderly shop.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen.
- You must be able to pass a drug test.
- Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs.
- You must meet the requirements for the summer internship.
Qualifications
All students must be U.S. Citizens or a person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and is seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B).Applications will be accepted from students who are at least sixteen (16) years of age by June 30, 2024 AND currently attending a college, university, or trade school.Are you a student seeking a post-secondary education certificate in a trade or technical school, an associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in the Building Arts AND taking classes in Plaster work or a related field of study?
Note: Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years. Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program. Candidates who have reached the three years in the program will be deemed ineligible to participate this calendar year.
