This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. This position serves as a first line supervisor and program manager for all visitor services functions of the Library, including admissions and special events. The incumbent is responsible for logistical planning, support, and execution for the programs and events as well as implementing regulations governing use of government facilities.

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY VISITOR SVCS SPECIALIST, you will: Manage the assigned programs and their administration by providing consultation and technical leadership to subordinate staff. Build relationships with tour group operators and other group visit coordinators. Plan logistics and schedules for a variety of formal and informal public programs, in addition to assisting on the day of these programs. Direct the recruitment, training, assignment and evaluation of Library volunteers. Manage the content of the visitor services and facility rentals portion of the Library's website.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Experience in event management/hospitality, or related field, to help produce events from conception to completion; such as conferences, meetings, and/or special events; AND Conducting tours of an organization's facility, in order to promote use of the facility for special events; AND Providing training and/or mentoring to staff members in the duties of monitoring special events, programs and/or visitor services. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09level for 52 weeks.
